Monthly Series Mention: The Manwhore Series by Katy Evans

Hi guys! Every month I pick a completed book series to feature on my blog because honestly...who likes to wait for the next book in a series? NOT ME! So for June's Monthly Series Mention and in honor of her new release/standalone (Tycoon! You can check out all the info and my review here <---)....I picked the Manwhore Series by Katy Evans! Let's dive in!
The Cover: Manwhore, Ms. Manwhore and Manwhore + 1 all have beautiful, sexy covers. There is nothing I love more than a good couple that have crazy chemistry and Malcolm and Rachel have crazy, steamy chemistry. I also love the colors of these covers it gives me an old, vintage kind of vibe for some reason. I love all of the covers but Manwhore is probably my favorite. A+

Basics: The Manwhore series started on March 24 2015 and finished on October 5th 2015. The three main books are Manwhore, Ms. Manwhore and Manwhore +1 (which is a novella.) There are also two standalones that are part of the Manwhore universer Ladies Man and Womanizer focusing on Malcolm's friends Tahoe and Callan. Genre wise the Manwhore Series belongs with contemporary romance and drama.

Description: Is it possible to expose Chicago's hottest player--without getting played?

This is the story I've been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don't be fooled by that last name though. There's nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he's a man's man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.

Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he's been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that's where I come in.

Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I'm determined to make him the story that will change my career.

But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.

What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?

Overall thoughts: I was really intrigued by the synopsis of the Manwhore series because again it's a recipe for disaster if you think about it. A writer getting close to a billionaire playboy but is really just spying on him to write an article for the magazine she works for? Yikes! One of my favorite things about Katy Evans is her characters; don't get me wrong her male guys are great but her female characters make me so proud to be female myself.  They are strong, brave, smart, intelligent, hardworking and Rachel is no exception to this. Her dream is to write something amazing that will not only put herself on the map to becoming a serious writer but she also wants to help her magazine grow. So ambitious. Now Malcolm...where do I begin with Saint? Manwhore was the second series I read by Katy Evans and I had VERY high expectations because Remy (from the Real series) is my favorite guy character in the entire world. Saint did not disappoint, although he annoyed me at times (let's be honest what hot alpha man doesn't in the romance book world?) but I really enjoyed his intensity and wit throughout this series. As stated earlier in this review, Malcolm and Rachel have some of the craziest chemistry I have ever and I just love them together. Their romance was a slow burn romance and I loved it. I loved their entire story and I'm glad they were a series because a couple this epic deserves one. The Manwhore Series is one of my favorites and I hope you add it to your TBR! You should also checkout the standalones related to these series, Ladies Man and Womanizer too since they are part of the Manwhore Universe. (Trust me...you are gonna want to read about Tahoe and Callan because they are hot, hot, HOT.) This is one of my favorite series of all time and I hope you give it a try and fall in love with it like I did!

May & June Owlcrate Review

Owlcrate is a monthly box subscription that is based around the box's theme of the month. The themes usually focus on a Young Adult series and have items that go with that series. For example, in  July 2016 Owlcrate had a theme of Good vs Evil box; if you got an evil box you were given a Draco Malfoy POP figure by Funko or if you got the Good box you were given a Luna Lovegood POP figure by Funko. A typical Owlcrate box includes a box based on the month's theme along with 3-5 book/nerdy/fun items that tie in with the book in the Owlcrate and theme.

The cost of an Owlcrate is $29.99 a month plus shipping and the box usually ships around the 20th of each month. Another great part of the Owlcrate is that you can buy it as a gift for someone! It's a perfect birthday, Christmas or anniversary gift for any book lover!

The end of May was pretty crazy for me so I didn't have time to review the May Owlcrate so in this post I will reviewing both the May & June Owlcrate, starting with the May Owlcrate.

The theme for May's Owlcrate is Comic Explosion!
May's Owlcrate focused on superheroes and comics which I found kind of interesting because when it comes to Young Adult books I don't think of comics and superheroes. But it was a pretty fun box. The book featured in the Comic Explosion Owlcrate was Eliza and Her Monsters by

Francesca Zappia. Check out the book here <--

My two favorite items from this Owlcrate was probably the Loki Funko Pop figure and the multi colored pen. The button's in the May Owlcrate were adorable too.
Overall the Comic Explosion Owlcrate was just ok, nothing to freak out over but just ok. Again I wish they would vary their items...coffee, tea and candles is literally in every Owlcrate I feel. I'm allergic to candles and I don't drink tea or coffee; now I know not everyone is like that (probably only me, I mean who in this day and age doesn't drink coffee or tea? Me. Whoops.) and lots of people like candles, tea and coffee but it's the same thing in every box. Good theme, same tired items.

My rating: 2/5 Shells

The theme for June's Owlcrate is: Make It Out Alive!
I had really high expectations for this box because I am big fan of The Walking Dead, into the future, Dystopian style stuff so I was excited for this one!
The June Owlcrate had two books which I thought was really neat. They included a patch, a bookmark, an Owlcrate button, a zombie face mask, a bath bomb, stickers that matched with the book The Sandcastle Empire and a quote magnet.
My favorite items from this Owlcrate were the zombie mask and magnet quote. Again I am allergic to everything so I don't think I'll be using the bath bomb even though it looks gorgeous. We didn't get a lot of items in this Owlcrate I think because of the second book but I'm okay with that and I'm excited to read both books.
Overall The Make It Out Alive Owlcrate was good, I had some high expectations and I do believe that they've been met. I signed up for an Owlcrate subscription in May of 2016 and this is the first time Owlcrate where I've gotten two books which I think is pretty neat. The items are okay but as always I feel as if more could of been done, maybe I'm too picky? Haha!

My Review: 3/5 Shells

See you next month for the Wanderlust Owlcrate!

The Cover: I am in love with Strong Enough's cover and holy cow it is STEAMY. Like wow I am kind of blushing and embarrassed but I think the cover is amazing kind of way! I honestly wasn't expecting a cover like this but I love it. A+

Basics: Strong Enough was released on June 19th 2017, published by MH Publishing and is  276 pages long. Genre wise Strong Enough is M/M romance, contemporary romance and standalone.

Description: I wasn’t looking for Derek Wolfe.
I wasn’t looking for anybody. All I wanted was to start a new life in America. But when I found myself stranded here with no place to go, he came to my rescue, offering me a place to stay.
He’s smart, successful, and sexy as hell—I can barely sleep knowing he’s right down the hall. And when the chemistry between us explodes one night with fierce, fiery passion, it’s hard to deny there’s something real between us.
But he does.
He says he was drunk. He says it was a one-time thing. He says he’s not into guys and what we did meant nothing.
He’s lying. Because it happened again, and again, and again. And it’s better every time.
I know we could be good together, and I want the chance to try, but I’m done hiding. If he’s not strong enough to admit the truth, I’ll have to be strong enough to walk away.
Excerpt:
Figuring I’d had enough booze to blunt his effect on me, I rolled up the sleeves of my black button-down shirt and moved next to him. “I’ll help you.”
“Okay.”
I caught him trying to not to look at my wrists and forearms, and it made me smile. How does it feel to want someone and have to hide it? “You wash, I’ll dry?”
“Sounds good.”
We worked in silence, shoulder to shoulder, and I found myself increasingly—and disturbingly—pleased at the thought of him being attracted to me and being forced to conceal it. It was fucking horrible of me to take pleasure in his discomfort, but I liked being secretly wanted. Being illicitly desired. Being the object of his covert glances and maybe even his darkest, dirtiest thoughts. I let our arms touch more than necessary, as thrilled by the physical contact as I was by the thought of what it might be doing to him.
For there is no man who does not sin.
My dick started to get hard, clearly unbothered by the whiskey that was breaking down my inhibitions, pushing past all my defenses, and letting my imagination run wild.
What’s in that gorgeous head of yours, Maxim? What’s behind those cobalt eyes? What would you do to me, if I let you? What would you let me do to you?
“Carolyn is so nice,” he said, handing me the last serving dish left to be dried.
What? He was thinking about Carolyn right now? He wasn’t supposed to be thinking about Carolyn—I was, goddammit!
But I wasn’t. “Yeah.”
He turned off the water. Rested his wet hands on the edge of the sink. “I didn’t realize you had a girlfriend.”
And I heard it in his voice—the slightest edge of jealousy, so faint I might never have noticed it had I not been so hyperaware of everything about him right now. I fucking loved it.
“She’s not my girlfriend.”
“Oh.” Now there was confusion. “I guess I misunderstood.”
“She wants to be my girlfriend.”
Silence.
Of course there was silence. Maxim would never ask what the problem was. But I wanted to tell him. I wanted him to know. I wanted to share the impossible longing I felt with one person who might understand it.
“The problem is me.”
He was completely still. Before I could stop myself, I covered his right hand with my left. “Sometimes I don’t know what I want.”
He yanked his hand from beneath mine and we faced each other.
For the first time tonight, I looked him right in the eye. Nothing around us existed for me anymore. I heard only his breath. Smelled only his skin. Saw only his guarded expression.
I had to have him.Displaying SBPR-MHDR-SE-teaser2.png
Overall thoughts: Strong Enough is my first M/M romance book I am reviewing so I'm excited to share my thoughts with you guys! I really loved Derek and Maxim, their story and their personalities were great. I find same sex relationships fascinating because they struggle with so much and honestly, fictional or not I just want people to be happy with whoever they love. So reading about Derek struggling with his sexual identity and attraction for Maxim was really moving for me. No one should feel ashamed of themselves when it comes to wanting to be with someone and I thought Maxim and Derek's story was very heartwarming and sweet. I also enjoyed the fact that both men were obviously attracted to one another but their relationship didn't happen right away, it was built up throughout the entire book and I really appreciated the realistic vibe about it. Strong Enough was really well done and I look forward to more books from both authors. Highly recommend this read guys!

Couple Chemistry Rating: 5/5 Shells
