Monthly Series Mention: The Wrath & The Dawn Duet by Renee Ahdieh

For March's Monthly Series Mention I am showcasing one of my favorite duet series, a Young Adult series (I know right?! I haven't done one of these in FOREVER!) The Wrath and The Dawn duet by Renee Ahdieh. I stumbled upon this series in Spring 2015 and fell in love with it's amazing story, great characters and Ahbieh's out of this world beautiful writing. The Wrath and The Dawn is one of the best Young Adult and fantasy series of this generation and is one of my favorite series EVER. I'm so excited to share my love for this duet series with you guys! Away to the desert we go!
The Covers: These covers are some of my favorite Young Adults cover ever because they are very creative and they look even better in person. I love, love, love these covers, so much! A+

Basics: There are two books in this series, the first: The Wrath and The Dawn and the second: The Rose and The Dagger. The Wrath and The Dawn is 416 pages  and The Rose and The Dagger is 432 pages. They were both published by G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers.

Description: A sumptuous and epically told love story inspired by A Thousand and One Nights

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi’s wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.

She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

Favorite Characters: In my eyes Shazi and Khalid are the dynamic two, they are literally two different sides of the same coin and they completely one another. Shazi one heck of a fierce, strong, funny leading lady and Khalid is the quiet but deathly has some issues, but has a kind heart hero. Followed up by a group of AMAZING supporting characters and you get one heck of a book and story. What I also about this series that Ahdieh wrote it that all the characters have a connection which is great and the connections make sense is which even better!

Overall Thoughts: As I stated at the beginning of this review I love this series and it is one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for fairytales and legends and Renee Ahdieh put an amazing twist on a love story inspired by  A Thousand and One Nights. Her writing is amazing, to the point where some of her sentences were so great that I had to reread them several times because they sounded that magical. The characters are so funny and have great depth to them that to me, they weren't just some random Young Adult characters in a book, they were so much more. There are lot of lessons in this series, big and small and I think everyone can relate to this beautiful story Ahdieh has written. I highly suggest you pick up a copy of this series (buy links below!) and curl up and get ready to be swept up on a magic carpet ride because the story of Shazi's is like literal magic!

My Rating: 5/5 Shells
